Tuition must be paid in advance of instruction. There will be a $50 fee for any returned checks.
Special rate for Teen Behind-The-Wheel and the 30hr Online class must be purchased together and are nonrefundable/nontransferable.
Regular attendance for behind-the-wheel class is mandatory. Students are expected to be on time for each lesson. Scheduled pickup times and locations will be strictly enforced. If you have to change your time or location, it must be done no less than 24 hours before your scheduled class.
Refunds: Refund requests must be submitted in writing. If a refund is granted, the tuition fee will be deducted for class sessions rendered and the balance will be paid within 4 weeks.
Students 17 years of age and under are required to complete a state approved driver education program (minimum 36 classroom instruction periods, 7 driving behind the wheel periods, 7 observation behind the wheel periods) prior to receiving a driver’s license.
Students 18 years of age and under must complete 7 periods of driving time (50 minutes) and 7 periods of observation time behind the wheel training with a certified driving instructor.
If a scheduled driving session is missed and/or cancelled without advance notice of at least 24 hours, the session can be made up on an alternate driving day at the fee of $30.00 per make-up instruction.
Students 18 years of age and older may hold the learner’s permit for 60 days in lieu of completing a driver training course.
Buckle Up Buttercup Driving School reserves the right to release any student from the behind-the-wheel segments/lessons of instruction when deemed necessary by the instructor. In the event that either the instructor or the student decides to terminate this agreement, Buckle Up ButterCup will provide a full refund up to the first day of class of behind-the-wheel instruction. After this time, no refunds will be given.
Instruction provided does not guarantee that any student will pass the state driver’s license examination or that the student can secure a driver’s license upon completion of course.

1. What areas do we service?
We currently service Behind the Wheel in the following areas: - Williamsburg, Toano and New Kent, Virginia area locations.
Door to door pickups and dropoffs are provided within the Williamsburg/Toano service areas only. New Kent students will have a specific pickup/drop-off area determined prior to first lesson.
2. How do I know if I am eligible for a Driver's License?
First Time Drivers:
For a driver's license, you must be

A resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia and

At least 16 years and 3 months of age.
Learner's permit: You must be at least 15 years and 6 months of age.
No exceptions will be made to these age requirements.
If you are under age 18, you must

Complete a state-approved driver education program and

Provide written consent from one of your parents or your legal guardian, unless you are married or emancipated.
If you are age 18 or older and have never held a driver's license issued by Virginia, another state, a U.S. territory, or foreign country, or cannot show proof that you previously held such a license, you must show proof that:

You have passed an approved driver education course or

You have held a learner's permit at least 60 days before taking the DMV road skills test.
At any age, as a first time driver, you will be required to provide documents to prove identity, legal presence, Virginia residency, and, if you have one, Social Security number (SSN). Proof of your SSN is not required if you know the number and DMV is able to electronically verify it.

How do I know if I am eligible to take this course?
You must be at least 15 years old to take the online driver education course. All individuals who elect to take the classroom component of the driver’s education course online must take the online course through a DMV licensed online driver training school. In order to benefit from the course, you must be able to work independently and be comfortable with using a computer.

How long do I have to complete the course?
You can complete the course at your own pace logging on and off as many times as necessary.

When do I get my Certificate of Completion?
You will receive your Certificate of Completion after you have passed your final exam, which you must take in-person at one our testing locations. You will be permitted to take the final exam after we have checked your identification and verified that you have completed the 13 sessions online. When you pass the exam, you can continue with the behind-the-wheel portion of the course or our instructor will issue your certificate to you if you request to transfer. If you fail the examination, you will be allowed to review any session of the completed course to prepare to take the examination again. Prior to registering for the course, verify that our school is in your service area.

How much does the course cost and how do I pay for it?
The cost of the course is $310 and will be paid in advance to receive the link to start your class. Once you have passed the final exam you will receive your Certificate of Completion.

Do I need any special computer system requirements or downloads to take the course?
You do NOT need any special software to complete our online course. There are no minimum browser requirements - Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Google Chrome all work well . There is no software to download and nothing is saved on your hard drive. Our animations use the Adobe Flash Player plugin. If you don't already have this on your computer (but you probably do), it is free and can be downloaded and installed when required.

How do I register for this course?

Do I need to use the same computer to complete the course?
No, You can log-in, re-enter, and take the course using any computer with any type of Internet connection.

If I am already registered and have exited after completing only some of the sessions, how do I re-enter the course?
You can either go to our home page and click the 'Log In' button (under "Returning Student?") or you can click the 'Log In (Returning?)' link in our menu section. Then you will just enter your First Name, Last Name, and Birthday and click the "Login" button to resume the course. Don't worry, our student progress monitoring feature will allow to pick up exactly where you left off.

What happens if I fail the final exam?
If you fail the examination, you will be allowed to review any session of the completed course to prepare to take the examination again.
